  • How many types of CCTV systems are there in the market?

    CCTV systems can be generally categorised as standalone type or networked type. For the standalone type of CCTV system, recording is done on a standalone DVR and playback is via a TV. For the networked type of CCTV system, the DVR has network capabilities that allow remote monitoring over the Internet. For some networked CCTV system, recording is done separately on a PC.

  • What is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR)? How does it work?

    Digital Video Recorder (DVR) can display live video footages from multiple camera sources simultaneously and record them on a hard disk. You can search and review any recorded surveillance video based on date, time, camera, alarm events, etc. You can playback video from single or multiple cameras simultaneously. For mid to higher end DVR, you can also playback the recording while the recording is still on-going.

  • How much video can a DVR store?

    The DVR uses the hard disk as the recording media. The length of recording for any DVR depends on many factors, including hard disk size, recording frame rates, recording picture size, number of cameras, picture quality and compression algorithms used.

  • How can I monitor my home, office or shops remotely over the Internet?

    With a broadband subscription and our CCTV systems, you can monitor live video over the internet.

  • What kind of broadband subscription do I need to enable monitoring over Internet?

    All types of broadband subscription plan will work, though we will strongly recommend our clients to opt for unlimited access plan as video streaming takes up a large bandwidth.

  • What does a typical CCTV system cost?

    The investment required depends entirely on the types of camera, DVR, and installation site. We offer systems ranging from entry level solutions suitable for home to high end solutions for high security & industrial applications.

  • Can I have a wireless surveillance system?

    Kapplayn provides both wired / wireless surveillance systems. Both CCTV systems have their Pros & Cons.

  • What kinds of cameras are available from Kappalyn?

    We offer all types of cameras, eg. IP/computer network cameras, outdoor IR weatherproof cameras, indoor dome cameras, Pan-Tilt Zoom, megapixel cameras etc. We have various premiere brands of cameras from the entry level type to the high end cameras.

  • Which camera is best suited to operate during both day and night in an outdoor setting?

    A waterproof IR camera is best for this situation. When it becomes dark, it will automatically start the IR LED. The waterproof body protects it from the weather.

  • Do the cameras record all the time?

    A motion detection function is a basic feature of the DVR. When movement is detected in the designated area, the system can then activate a number of actions including: the cameras start recording, automatic alarm triggering and email/sms notification to the relevant people.
